7:00 p.m. Chairman Soper called the meeting to order
II NEW BUSINESS
Requests: Copying all e-mails sent to Department Heads to the Board of Selectmen. Selectmen McGahan had requested that all group e-mails sent to Department Heads by the Town Administrator and Executive Assistant also be forwarded to the to Board members. The Board discussed the role of the Selectmen and Town Administrator. Mr. San Angelo feels that as Town Administrator his is responsible for the day to day operations of the town and the Board members should go notify him of their request and Mr. San Angelo will relay the request onto the Department Head. Mr. McGahan disagrees and feels that the Board members should have the discretion to make requests of Department Heads directly. Mr. Scott feels that was a policy of a
previous Board and that the current Board should be able to deal directly with the Department Heads. After a brief discussion the Board agreed more time would be needed resolve the issue.
MOTION by McGahan, second by Young that all group e-mails sent to Department Heads by the Town Administrator and the Executive Assistant should be forwarded to the Board members. Voted 5 - 0

MOTION by Young, second by Howard to approved the executive Session minutes of May 20, 2014, June 3, 2014 and June 17, 2014. Voted 4 – 0 – 1 (McGahan)
MOTION by Young, second by Howard to approve the Executive Session minutes of July 8, 2014, July 22, 2014, August 12, 2014, September 9, 2014 and Regular Session minutes of September 9, 2014 and September 16, 2014. Voted 5 – 0

V TOWN MEETING - Possible vote to place a question relative to the Indian Head School Roof on the December 13, 2014 Special Town Election.
MOTION by Young, second by Howard that the Board of Selectmen seek voter approval at a Special Election to be held on October 6, 2014, to assess taxes in excess of the amount allowed pursuant to General Laws Chapter 59, Section 21C for the payment of principle and interested on bonds, notes, or certificates of indebtedness, all as set forth in the following Question 1:
Question 1: Shall the Town of Hanson be allowed to assess an additional $680,000.00 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of Article 34 of the October 6, 2014 Special Town Meeting for the purpose of design, project management and repair, replacement and construction of a new roof for the replacement of the slate roof at the Indian Head Elementary School, 726 Indian Head Street for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015?
